Past Party Monday! {50th Mustache Bash} - LAURA'S little PARTY

Past Party Monday! {50th Mustache Bash}

May 20, 2012

This week for my Past Party Monday post, I'm featuring my Hubby's party!
I put this party together back in January, for his 50th Birthday.
I called it his 50th Mustache Bash!
Mustache themes have been so popular for a while now,
and I told myself that I would throw a mustache party, if ever I had the chance.
My hubby doesn't like to be the center of attention for anything,
{I make up for the both of us!}
so I had to carefully plan his BIG 5-0 party!

Once I picked a mustache theme, everything else fell into place.
I didn't really want ties & bow ties, so I chose a barber shop theme.
The red, white, and blue palette was super easy to create!
Notice my barber shop pole in the bottom corner?
I made that from an old curtain rod!
I twisted & attached red, and blue crepe paper to make the stripes.

I made red cakepops, and displayed them in an old-fashioned pail.
I actually bought it brand new from Michael's.
The striped ribbon helped tie everything else together.

Chocolate mustaches from a mold I purchased at Michael's worked perfectly!
I found a very old ball jar, and used it to display wrapped bubble gum.

And who wouldn't want to walk around with a silly mustache on a stick?
These of course were a big hit at the party.
I found a free mustache printable from the fabulous Living Locurto website.
You can print your own mustaches here!

I bought these neat chocolate cupcakes from Walmart, and added my own toppers.
I displayed the desserts on an old dresser.
I ran out of room for the mustache cookies I ordered,
so I cleverly displayed them in an open dresser drawer!

One of my favorite things to do is dip things in chocolate!
I took store bought rice crispy treats, and dipped them in red chocolate.
The red, white, and blue sprinkles added that little extra touch.

I ordered cookies from a local bakery. They turned out fab!
They were able to take my custom cupcake toppers, and create a cookie from it.
Here's another view of my dessert table dresser : )

I wanted to mingle with our friends & family that attended my hubby's party.
In order to do that, I made sure my menu was easy!
I created a build-your-own-pasta bar.
Two types of pasta, sauce, and several toppings:
Shrimp, olives, mushrooms, cheese, etc.

Salad, dressings, and 2 kinds of bread, were also a big hit!
I didn't have to slave in the kitchen, and the guests were happy serving themselves.
My hubby got a low-key 50th Mustache bash that made us both happy!
