Cocktails and Cacti Party| Summer Celebration Ideas

July 19, 2016

Cacti has quickly become one of my favorite party accessories! I think I love styling with them just as much as I do flamingos, and pineapples! Summer gatherings are still in full swing, so I jumped at the chance to put together a simple gathering featuring cocktails & cacti!

One of my favorite details of the party table was the FIESTA sign I created! I took Styrofoam letters from Shindigz, and painted them with Testors one coat lacquer spray, in Lime Ice. When they were dry, I added little prickly details by hand painting them with a black Testors paint marker.

I started off  with a pink, green, and gold color palette and mixed in touches of paper décor to represent a fiesta-like feel.

My daughter has always shown interest in painting, and for this particular party, I happily asked if she wanted to paint a backdrop, using different cactus shapes. She was very excited to help, and I absolutely love what she did! Thank you, Nina!

I found some darling cactus pinatas from Urban Outfitters, and jumped at the chance to use them as part of my décor!

I created some cacti printables from some lovely watercolor artwork that I picked out on Etsy. I used them for cupcake toppers, and little accents on the favor boxes.

For the menu, I whipped up a couple easy appetizers, and served pink wine, of course. Cheese quesadillas topped with guacamole & pico de gallo were so tasty.

I was able to create a fun touch to some plain white Chinet dessert plates, by hand painting designs with my Testors paint marker in metallic gold.

I also used a stemless wine glass from Chinet, for a fun way to sip cocktails! They were so pretty that you wouldn't realize that they were plastic!

I also took a simple cracker and added a delicious herb spread, and finished it off with chopped onions.

This was such a fun way to celebrate, and I hope you're inspired to gather your friends for a simple party before the Summer ends.

Cheers!
