Thanksgiving Ideas, Dessert and Free Printables - LAURA'S little PARTY

Thanksgiving Ideas, Dessert and Free Printables

November 21, 2017

Have you finalized your plans for your Thanksgiving meal? We happily enjoy our Thanksgiving meal at my Grandma's house. She's a wonderful cook - sadly, I did not inherit that gene. But I can put together a fairly decent dessert.

I headed to Walmart for my recipe ingredients, and for items for my Thanksgiving Table Scape. I loved that I could head to one store, and pick up everything I needed. Less time running around, and more time with my family! Win-win.

My Grandma passed down a delicious recipe that she came across about 30 years ago. It's called Pumpkin Pudding Cake. Let me tell you, it's addicting! When you find a recipe that requires LIBBY’S® 100% Pure Pumpkin and NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Evaporated Milk, you just know it's going to be an amazing ride for your taste buds! There's something about how the Carnation milk products make any recipe so rich & creamy.

Did you know that Libby's 100% Pure Pumpkin is a superfood? It really is! Not only is it rich in vitamin A, it's also a good source of fiber, and a great way to get your share of the antioxidant beta-carotene. A dessert that is delicious and good for you? Wow! Now that's love.

While shopping for my recipe's ingredients, I came across some NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Pumpkin Spice Morsels. Yes, Pumpkin Spice! We all know it wouldn't be Fall without that rich flavor of pumpkin, cinnamon, and spices. If I were you, I'd head out and grab some... quickly! They're only here during Fall season, and I can tell you that they are great for enhancing your favorite recipe. Here, I've sprinkled those little morsels of heaven, right on top of my cake. Yumm!

Here is my Grandma's recipe, in case you'd like to try it out for yourself!

LIBBY’S® 100% Pure Pumpkin, 15oz.
NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Evaporated Milk, 15oz.
3 eggs
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 box yellow cake mix
1/2 c. butter or margarine, melted
1 cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 9x13 baking pan.
Blend together all but the last 3 ingredients and mix well. Pour into greased pan.
Sprinkle dry cake mix over pumpkin mixture and gently pat down. Sprinkle the nuts
over dry cake mix. Drizzle melted butter over all. Bake for 50 minutes.
Cut into squares when completely cooled.

I've included some store shots for you. This will help direct you to the general area in Walmart where the ingredients can be found.

While my Pumpkin Pudding Cake was baking, I set up our Thanksgiving table, and even put together a table for our little guests.

First thing I did was decide on what colors I wanted to work with. I really love how the rich brown tones look with pops of aqua & blue. Add real wood pieces, and I'm happy!

I wasn't having any luck finding a table cover, so I headed over to the fabric section in Walmart, and found the perfect colored fabric, by Waverly. I purchased 3 yards to cover our 6' table.
I also found the perfect dishes, from The Pioneer Woman, to serve our feast & tasty desserts on!

I used a simple wood carved turkey as our centerpiece. This would be removed once the real turkey is finished roasting!

Along with pretty dishes + touches of blue, I incorporated burlap, bamboo utensils, pretty brown ribbon, aqua painted pumpkins, real pinecones, different colored cake stands, and even white pumpkins. I think all the colors & textures mixed very nicely.

Once dinner is over, and we you're ready to have dessert, you can set out little take-home boxes for your guests. I added some festive "turkey leftovers" tags, tied with twine, and a feather.

In our family we have a small group of children that get a kick out of sitting at their very own table.
I keep the kid table close by so the adults are still able to monitor their children.
At Walmart, I found some darling turkey plates, along with a paper table cover that is full of fun games.

I found some wood carved pencils, and saved them for just an occasion!

Each place setting had their own utensils, and even some fun pilgrim poppers to play with!

I added sweet circle tags for the cupcakes. The children will love having their own set of treats, sitting at their table.

I make sure to add some activities, and special treats for them. The kids love it, and the adults love that they get a chance to mingle while the children are occupied.

I hope my Thanksgiving Tablescape Inspiration has helped with your table theme this season. I'm adding a link to all of my printables seen in this post, plus a few extras. You can print out our Thanksgiving Feast Printable Set, for your own party or gathering!
