NYC themed birthday party - LAURA'S little PARTY

NYC themed birthday party

September 15, 2016

Since starting school last year, my son Jordan learned all about the Statue of Liberty from his kindergarten teacher. Since then, he's been fascinated with Lady Liberty and all things New York city! He was very specific about some of the party details for his upcoming 6th birthday, and I truly enjoyed working together with him on his NYC themed birthday party!

The party guests were greeted by a personalized Subway entrance

Each party guest had a chance to wear their own Lady Liberty crown. I found a free download from Paging SuperMom. The crowns helped get everyone in the NYC party mood!

We wanted to create a city street vibe so we used brick flat paper for our party backdrop. I personalized a Taxi Cab Standee especially for the birthday boy! I also added a racetrack runner to transport the guests to "New York City".

We used the Times Square theme kit to decorate around the yard. This kit was packed full of fun cardboard props and standees - one of my favorite sets thus far! The Timesquare Skyscrapers instantly transformed our yard into a fun cityscape!

And get a look at this huge Lady Liberty standee! She was the highlight of the party and stood at an awesome 9 feet high. She overlooked the party and made a cool impact!

One of the party activities my son wanted to do was paint with his friends! I contacted this wonderful site called Social Artworking. They were wonderful to work with! The guests, and especially my birthday boy, had such a fun time painting their very own picture of the Statue of Liberty.

To help keep any possible painting mishaps to a minimum, I covered the tables in white flat paper. To make the table covers more New York city-like, I hand wrote I heart NY and added red heart cutouts to the white paper.

Our party menu consisted of boxed salads, fruit cups, and all the fixings to create your own version of a delicious street dog! This cardboard hot dog cart was a huge hit at the party! It looked very realistic. We hung a cool Broadway sign in the background.

The party stayed pumped up with a cool DJ, and some karaoke!

Jordan's #1 party request was to have a Statue of Liberty cake! We immediately called Sweet Talk Bake Shoppe to see what she could do for us. She created this darling cake with a fondant cityscape, and cake pop apples on the top. I added some clip art prints of the Empire State Building, and Lady Liberty. The birthday boy loved it, and that was the goal!

Not only was the Statue of Liberty cake birthday boy-approved, he also loved the cookies and mini cupcakes that were made - also from the Sweet Talk Bake Shoppe. I love how the desserts popped against the checkered table cover

Jordan the birthday boy had such a great time with his friends and family! He looked so cute in his custom made NYC birthday crown, from Shawna Brockmeier Styled Events. He even announced on the DJ's microphone that this was the best bithday party he ever had!
