Spring is here and summer is quickly approaching! That can only mean one thing: its time to get your swim gear and bathing suits ready! My boys love the water and look forward to pool time, water balloons, water parks and the beach! I recently bought them matching swim trunks and shirts and wanted to get creative with their rash guards. Follow along as I show you how to create a custom swim shirt with the new Cricut SportFlex Iron On™

This post was sponsored by Cricut. LAURA'S little PARTY has received payment, and/or products, in exchange for craft inspiration and fun ideas. As always, all opinions are 100% our own. #CricutStrong #CricutMade #Cricut #ad

Cricut SportFlex Iron On™ is one of the latest vinyl products that Cricut has released. And I have to tell you guys, it's been AMAZING to work with! What makes Cricut's new SportFlex Iron On™ the perfect choice for customizing your nylon and polyester active gear?! Well, it has an incredibly stretchable, flexible and thin design, which is so different from regular iron-on vinyl. Best of all, its lightweight! You can add it onto exercise clothing, swim suits, maternity clothing, etc. Anything that stretches, SportFlex Iron On™ is perfect for it!

Here are the supplies I used for my custom swim shirts:

SportFlex Iron On™ - Black

Cricut Maker

Cricut EasyPress

Cricut EasyPress Mat

Cutting Mat

Weeder

Sport short sleeve rash guard

First thing I did was head over to Cricut Design Space to see their huge assortment of designs and fonts. I think the hardest part of this entire process was having to narrow down my choices - they're ALL such fun design ideas and fonts!

Here are the designs I chose, and if you'd like to create this exact project, you can get my design here!

To get a better idea of the size design I needed for my swim shirt project, I used a measuring tape to get a more accurate placement.

Now you're ready to cut! Place the SportFlex Iron On™ shiny side down onto the cutting mat and load.  Before you cut your vinyl, don't forget to mirror your image!

Trimming your design makes it that much easier when you iron on your design. Also, if you're cutting different pieces, this gives you the liberty of placing your design wherever you like. Once you've cut out your designs, you'll need to weed the extra vinyl that will NOT be ironed onto your shirt, etc.

At this time, I like to start warming up my Cricut EasyPress. I set my temperature at 305 F for 30 seconds.

Once your EasyPress has reached the desired heat setting, preheat the area of the material that you'll be ironing, for 5-10 seconds. Place your design in the desired spot of your shirt and get ready to press! The Cricut EasyPress makes ironing on designs so easy! I truly LOVE this machine! I recently received the EasyPress Mat which makes it super convenient to quickly press on a project, just about anywhere in my house!

Place the EasyPress on your design, on the front of the garment and hold for 30 seconds. Turn shirt inside out and hold the EasyPress on the back of the garment for 15 seconds, using medium pressure.

Once the design has cooled, slowly remove the clear backing from the design and you'll be ready to hit the water!

Create unique designs with SportFlex Iron On™ that are perfect for capturing all those wonderful summer memories! What will you be creating?

Pin our idea for later! It's fun to whip up something quickly!
