Celebrate Thanksgiving with a bold tablescape

November 13, 2019

Whether it's a huge gathering, or a small intimate meal, the holidays are the perfect time to add beautiful elements, and your own unique style to your table setting! I love the look that black and white brings to every day decor, and I knew that I wanted to incorporate those colors into my Thanksgiving table design, a couple years ago. My how time flies!

My initial inspiration came from a beautifully designed banner from our friend Angie over at The Grey Dot Co.  Isn't it gorgeous?! I knew it would look perfect with our black and white decor, plus some added pops of greenery.

If you have a big family like I do, eating indoors may leave you feeling a bit cramped; especially with 7+ cousins (under the age of 12) running around and having fun together. Outdoor dining would be a great option. Fall weather in California blesses us with beautiful temperatures that allow us to enjoy our festivities outdoors!

I added some fun decor to our outdoor dining area that would also work as a place for the children to play. My boys' teepee gets a lot of use indoors and out - I also loved how it coordinated perfectly with my color palette!

I set out some gorgeous white pumpkins from Michael's, inside of a wheelbarrow that belonged to my great-grandfather! My Grandma had it sitting in her backyard for years, and she was gracious enough to allow me to paint it. I chose Rustoleum semi gloss black spray paint and it covered the old rusty wheelbarrow beautifully!

I wanted to incorporate buffalo check into my table design this year. I found some fabric that would work perfectly as a table cover! From there I added chalkboard placemats, and kept my eyes open for the perfect set of dishes. I added some black cloth napkins and finished off the look with a wooden napkin ring that I painted grey.

Along with pops of green, I also mixed in some brown earth tones to my black and white color palette. I was pleasantly surprised at how pretty it all flowed together.

My table decor consisted of black pumpkins, white pumpkins, green plants,  a wooden leaf garland, a ceramic turkey, and Indian corn. I painted the Indian corn black, and added black and white checkered ribbon to bundle the corn together, and set it out on a bed of greenery.

I am so excited for Thanksgiving, and I can't wait for my family to be near as we enjoy delicious food, and make more memories together! Will you be hosting Thanksgiving this year? What color palette do you plan on using for your tablescape? I'd love to hear about it!

Here's a pin to add to your table decor inspiration board!
