Back-To-School Wooden Crate | Easy DIY Project - LAURA'S little PARTY

Back-To-School Wooden Crate | Easy DIY Project

August 06, 2015

Thanks so much for stopping by to check out my latest DIY project! This was really easy to do, and didn't take too long. That's a win-win in my book!
I created this for my Back-To-School party, and thought you might like to try this project yourself.

I started off with an old wooden crate that I had laying around my garage.

Crafting Supplies:

Chalkboard Paint
Sponge Brush
Chalk Marker
White Chalk

I put the paint inside of a snack cup, and put some paper down, to catch any messes.

I started by brushing on the paint, on the small wooden slats.

I continued painting the entire crate. You don't have to use a sponge brush. It did apply pretty quickly, and that happened to be the only brush I could find quickly.

The paint dried quickly, and I started to write on the chalk surface, with my chalk pen. I was making little lines to represent a ruler.

Please note: My lines are not to scale! Just for fun.
Once I completed my ruler, I went down to the second slat, and chalk painted part of the alphabet. You can also paint another ruler, or even leave it blank. That's the beauty of a DIY project.

My chalk pen didn't show up as vivid as I had hoped. That's where the real chalk came in handy. I just wrote over the existing marks, and it looked better.

Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to check out how I used this project in my Back-To-School Party Ideas!
