Game Day | Football Party Ideas - LAURA'S little PARTY

Game Day | Football Party Ideas

September 11, 2015

Football season is finally here! The sounds of crowds cheering, helmets hitting, and my hubby's victory dance in front of the TV. We love watching the game, and look forward to a new football season!

Last night, before kick-off, I was anxiously getting food ready for our first game night. We don't have a spread like this for every football game, but I wanted to throw together something for all of us to enjoy.

I pulled out a folding table, and set out a roll of artificial turf as my table cover. Some cake stands, festive food holders, and a couple striped place mats got me in position to start setting up our game day spread!

When I started planning our game day shindig, I hopped over to Oriental Trading's website. Right now they have some really fun football items! I love these black finger shaped bottles! They were a lot bigger than I expected, and they're SO fun!

The neat thing about football gatherings is that you don't have to set out gourmet snacks. Unless, that's what you like to do... and if it is, I'd love to become friends and hang out for game night at YOUR house! *insert winky face here

My guys like a lot of crunch in their snacks. I set out popcorn in mini popcorn holders, and football shaped pretzels.

I like serving food that is not only easy to prepare, but also easy to grab. These snack cups were perfect for holding chili fries. I set out snack trays that worked great for holding our drinks, and snacks. Hubby was able to fill his tray, and plop down on the couch.

Another game night favorite? Potato skins. Mmmm! Melted cheese, bacon bits, and chives. So tasty, and super easy! I found them in Walmart's freezer section, and decided to give them a try. Here's what I loved about them: they were delish! Also, I had the option of preparing them in the microwave. With the heat wave we're having in California, who wants to turn on the oven?

These football gable boxes are perfect for your party guests to fill with treats, and take home to enjoy later. Lining them with wax paper will help with any potential messes you may encounter, as you fill them up with leftovers.

Sliders are another sideline must-have! You can add your own toppings, stack them, dip them, or just grab & eat! For a fun touch, I displayed them on small chalkboards, and created my own "play" called the 'grab & eat' maneuver.
For a sweet treat, I set out some delicious cupcakes. I picked them up at my local Walmart bakery. I couldn't pass up the fun NFL football ring that was set on each cupcake. {I'm wearing one as I type this}

There's a full schedule of football games, this weekend! I hope my tips & ideas will help as you create your own Game Night spread!

I'd love to hear what you serve your guests on game night. Let's exchange ideas!
