Celebrate Dr. Seuss week with a DIY photo booth!

February 22, 2018

We're kicking off 'Read Across America Week' with an easy-to-create photo booth! Do you celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday?! Every year our school participates in a week long celebration: Silly socks, guests readers from our community and a family picnic on campus! It's loads of fun and we all look forward to it every year!

One thing we're adding this year is a photo booth for the students, staff and families to capture some silly photos!

I found exactly what I needed to create our photo booth, with products from Shindigz! Colorful balloons for an easy balloon garland, cardboard letters, photo backdrop and photo prop frames. Here's how I put together this colorful photo booth that we'll be using at school next week...

DIY PHOTO BOOTH

I took cardboard letters from Shindigz and painted them to resemble letters out of a Dr. Seuss story! I used brightly colored paints from DecoArt and started bringing the letters to life.

I took a small painting sponge and applied the paint to the cardboard. I purposely applied the paint unevenly to give it more character.

Once I was finished painting the letter, I brushed on some black markings that we see on a lot of the Dr. Seuss illustrations.

Balloon garlands are one of my favorite elements in any celebration! They're easy to make and they add so much color! I love choosing coordinating balloons each time - the garlands are unique to every party.

To make your own garland, you'll need balloons, a balloon pump and balloon decorating strip.

Photo props make photos more fun, don't you think? You can easily create fun props by printing out clip art. Add them to dowels and even on photo prop frames!

I purchased Dr. Seuss themed clip art on Etsy and quickly added them to a cardboard frame. Add as little or as much as you want for a picture perfect photo!

Will you be celebrating with some 'Read Across America' activities at your school?
